May the Christmas season end the present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright New Year. Season’s Greetings to you all.

The little kitchen of Oiseau deNim would like to present some home made cuisine to the audience: roast beef, pan-fried duck breast, with French Aligot mashed potatoes and velvety pumpkin soup.

Harvest Seasons

After taking a necessary break, I am back to work, back to the mini food projects. September is the season of Muscat grape and it is my favorite fruit in Autumn. I choose some bottles of good wine to go with tasty cheese. They are Beaudeaux Blanc, Beaudeaux Rouge, Beaujolais and Champagne. Of course we cannot miss good French sourdough sliced bread either!

Mini Flower Pot/ Jelly Pot

I was dreaming one day I was able to practice and do the turning myself. Yesterday afternoon, I opened my birthday present which has arrived in April: a simple lathe!

I fixed a clear solid acrylic rod on it, and tried with different tools for wood carving. It was a great fun to see the shape turned and changed. I was asking myself what the best way was to polish the acrylic rod…
The little flowers are made air dry clay and are fixed in the pot with UV resin.

The flower pot: 5mm diameter, 7mm H
Hope there are more vases and bottles to come!:)

Au Rêve Gourmand: Tea Salon and Library

I started the tea salon project in 2016 but for the whole concrete project I started offically from the second half of the year 2017. It includes 5 scenes : pastry shop, tea salon, library, tea shop and terrace garden. In between 2017 and 2018, I completed the electric lighting setting. It was a complicated but very interesting project. I also have completed most part of the furniture. During the two weeks of lockdown, I have filled the bookshelves with copies of gilded books. The library in the second floor is almost done.
The painting "Lilas in the glass vase" is the work of my friend Catherine Buron Masbou de 'NINETTE & CO'!
I now need to get more inspiration for the next project! :)

Antique Gilded Books

It's the third week of lockdown in France. For most of people who craft, we don't feel that bored at home. But just at the same moment, we have to make the schedules for our kids and avoid spending too much time in front of the screens. I am pleased the French Education Department has prepared national/ educational programs and starts to give lessons for all the children at home.  The teachers of my kids prepare too the homework everyday except Wednesday and the weekend.

When they are in the classes, I make miniatures. Maybe I might catch one hour, and two hours maximum in the day time for myself. So, I take advantage of the moment and try to do as much as I am able to.

Voila! Some antique gilded books are made in the past 10 days,  at a low speed but I feel very happy with them.

This time I have been applying the sliver/ gold sheets to book covers, which are made in leather, tissue, and paper.  Depending on different types of material, I encounter different difficulties. The easiest one to apply in this project is synthetic paper. Good luck to me since I still have many copies to complete for my dollhouse library scene but this is my HAPPY spare time during the period of lockdown 🐣

Stay sound and safe everyone!

Gilding Book Covers

This is the first weekend of lockdown in France. Though the weather is so NICE in the southern France, we stay home. When kids play in the yard (fortunately it’s large enough ), I have to run, play the basketball and football with them; when we stay in the house, I have to play the board games too. ..The time that I am able to craft, is the moment when the kids watch cartoons and after they fall into sleep. I know, not only me, everyone has to be patient....
So, this is the only one thing I have done in the week days: gilding some book covers.
I don’t try the binding yet due to the truth that I suck at working with needles and threads.... any hints or suggestions from you will be great helpful to me.
Have a great weekend everyone! Stay healthy and safe!

Easter Chocolate Hen Cakes

Rest calm and keep cool! We hide and make miniatures at home.😍

The French president 🇫🇷 has announced since Thursday evening: all the schools in France will start to be closed on 16th March till the worse situation passes. With the coming Easter holidays, the kids will stay home with me during at least 5 weeks. 😱

This must change our working schedule but it’s a CORRECT decision. I want to continue, making miniatures silently as much as I am able to. Stay sage my boys! 🙏

Stay safe everyone! 🌺

Easter & Engagement Cakes

I am happy finally I decide to restart a pastry project. It's true I have been worrying about the fact I did not have so much inspiration and wondered how to create and catch the details of real sweeties.
For 2020, I hope there will be more to come! :)
