Peeled tangerines

More fruits, more obsession!

The size of each tangerine is between 7-10mm (dia) but I made 2 extra-large size for Marie's reference; it's around 15mm diameter.

I think I made right colors but did form well the shapes. I will try again NEXT TIME.

Playing with fruits is also so much fun. Maybe neet to look for some sweet baskets for them soon!

Peeled skin of fruits: bananas

It’s an incident that I start making fruits.

I enjoy and go very often to the craft shops, so some of the employees get familiar with me and know I make mini food in clay. Last Friday when I went to the shop, Marie, who is the team leader and also good at making jewelry, asked me if I could make some mini fruits for her cause she wants to make her own summer collections. What she asked is bananas, litchis, tangerines, mangos, and pineapples.

The main reason that I seldom make fruits or vegetables is I fear of forming their shapes. Another reason is I don’t get used to painting. This time I pushed myself little bit since I won’t be able to avoid it in a coupe of months.

Do you like these bananas? Want a bite? :P
There are more pictures on my Flickr.

Amy's Miniature

Amy is one of my favorite artisans and also a senior instructor who has given courses of miniatures in Hong Kong since 1994. Before I started making mini food, I have noticed her fabulous works and they made me crazy. :D

More of her works:

I was pleased to have her messages and get more contact with her. I hope I will have opportunities to meet her and join her workshop this year. She is going to attend the Japan Dollhouse Exhibition in Tokyo on 12th and 13th Jun. Wish her good luck!

I am honored and happy to be featured and appreciate that AIM gives me such glory. I believe there must be also many beautiful things to make for AIM.

Happy Mother's Day

After we install in the new house for a month, the Internet works finally since Friday evening. I am glad to access to the networks at home directly.

My parents-in-law come to the southern France since Tuesday for giving us some "training" because I am not good at tinkering at all. These days we all work together for repainting the shutters, the walls of the garage and for weeding in the garden. I am motivated and would like to know more techniques of house arrangement with them.

Before they arrived, I continued playing some caning at home but I don’t really make some new stuff. I will plan for the next collection soon.

Today is Mother’s Day in France; we prepare some cakes and champagne as the dessert and celebrate together at the lunchtime. Last week I wrote one brief story of mine for Mother’s Day and it’s published on Etsy.fr. We will read it with my parents-in-law this evening.

Since my husband and his dad are in front of the TV and watching Formula 1 now, my mother-in-law and me are able to access to Internet and do our own things. We both are very happy to get rid of the men for a while. :)

Create our own clay pantone

I have passed a period of time without Internet and TV in my life after the house move. I went shopping alone and read a new book that I ordered from Amazon.fr last week when my husband had business trip in US.

I was touched and so much inspired by this book: Polymer Clay COLOR INSPIRATION/ Lindly Haunani & Maggie Maggio
.

It starts from the theories of Hue, Value and Saturation but there are also some very interesting techniques in this book.

I spent two days making three clay pantones. It's useful to get the formula of each color.

Here are also two inspirational videos on YouTube:
Color Scales in Polymer Clay
Color Scales II - Playing with Color Scales
Highly recommend!

When my husband was away, I made a new friend--- a gray cat. He came to see me all the week. When seeing him in the garden now, I just need to wave my hand and call him, and he jumps and runs to me immediately. What a lovely cat!:P
